The Future Of Wildlife Depends On Us Today.
E is for Elephant. Every kid learns this at school. But at the present rate poaching for ivory, elephants in the wild will become extinct in the wild during the lifetime of kids in first grade today.
The Elephant Orphanage Project.
Baby elephants left motherless by poaching are one of the awful consequences of this trade in ivory. Littlezookeepers works to support the Elephant Orphanage Project in Zambia by working with The David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation in the United Kingdom. How we do this is explained in detail here.
Through the generosity of our customers we are able to assist the project in their task of both saving the elephants and re-introducing them into the wild. This a long and expensive process lasting many years. In their early years at the orphanage, the elephants have to be fed every three hours with milk and supplements requiring 24 hour loving care.
